I arrived at Foxwoods Saturday morning via a bus and made my way to coat check to check my bag until I could check in. I went right down to the poker room so I could get on a limit table before it got too busy. I was sitting at a 4/8 table playing.
I got up and chased after them and called Jackie’s name and she turned around so I knew it was her. It took her about two seconds of looking at me before she said ‘Kim?’. How she decided it was me I’ll probably never know but I was so excited to meet her. Then she brought me over to Geri who was talking with Melanie and I got to meet them too. It was a very exciting moment as it was my first meeting ever with any.
They headed off to check into their room and I went back to play. After a while I got hungry and went to eat and check into my room and when I came back to the table I was surprised to see Jackie sitting two seats away from me. I asked her where Geri was and she laughed and pointed to the other end of the table and omg, there is Geri too. I had so much fun that afternoon playing with them. I left later in the evening as hubby had just arrived and he was STARVING and wanted to go eat. So we both jumped on the dinner list (it gives us two hours to eat and they put you near the top of the list when you get back) and we went to eat and register me for the tournament. When we got back we decided to play in a sng together. He was out first and I went out second…these people were MANIACS. I had a woman call my all in on the turn with a flush draw and she didn’t hit it and started getting up from the table and walking away when the dealer said ‘hey, you have the best hand…you hit a straight’…sure enough, she’d hit a gut shot straight draw she didn’t even know she’d had. She said ‘oh goody for me’ and sat back down and I left. Jason and I decided to go back down and play 4/8 limit.
They sat us at a table together and my winning streak was continuing. After a while I felt a pair of cold hands on my face and it was Jackie and Geri. They sat at our table and were introduced to Jason for the first time. Jackie sat next to Jason and according to Jason, proceeded to try to sweet-talk him out of his money but he wouldn’t let himself fall for it. We had lots of fun playing poker with Geri and Jackie for a couple hours. We tried calling Bonita’s phone to see where her and Cara were but there was no answer. Jason and I learned a new word too…DANG. Jackie said it when Jason sucked out on her on the river. She said that’s what Texan’s say as a swear word…DANG. Jason and I loved it and we now say dang all the time. She said after playing with us for a while that now she knew where I learned to play…from Jason. I guess maybe we play a bit aggressive. After a while Geri and Jackie left and Jason and I played for a couple more hours. We both left happy with money in our pockets.
I only had to smirk at Cara for her to know she was meeting ‘punky’. I sat next to Bonita at breakfast and quickly realized that she would never ever sting me like she threatens to. She was so nice and I can’t see her stinging anyone ever. We all had breakfast (although Geri claims that the amount I ate doesn’t qualify as a real meal) and then headed downstairs for Geri and Jackie to register and us to get our free gifts and then we were on to the tournament.
As Bonita said, there were 394 women and we were 11 handed for a while. I didn’t catch any hands for a long time until I picked up pocket Jacks. I was on the button and made a big raise. Both blinds called. The flop came ten high and they checked to me and I bet BIG. THEY BOTH CALLED. The turn came with a three straight so I know I need to make them GO AWAY. So I bet big again…THEY BOTH CALL AGAIN. The river comes with a fuggin four straight and the bb moves all in and I have to fold. She shows that she hit her gut shot four straight on the river. I soon realized I wasn’t sitting at a table full of women but a table full of maniacs. I talked to Melanie at the break and she told me not to play any hands except the very best starting hands…so I stopped playing. I picked up kings once and won the blinds. After a while Melanie joined our table and I tried to stay away from any hand she was in as I was a bit skeered.
I doubled up a couple times but after the second break I found myself soon to be short stacked and the blinds were 200/400 with a 50 ante. I moved all in two hands before my blind with AK and got called by the card-rack chip leader at the table and she had A5d and flopped the nut-flush and I was out. Later Melanie checked and the card-rack was still in when there were two tables left. I went out when there was about 150 left. Oh and on a side note…the idiot girl from the night before who knocked me out of the sng sat at my table and ended up getting knocked out in the same hand as me.
I went back and played 4/8 limit again and after a while went to dinner with Cathy and Cara. Then I had to go back before they picked up my chips as I was gone just over an hour. I played poker all night and ended up losing a little. The next day I played limit while Jason was playing in an Act 1 (which he won). I said bye to Geri and Jackie (I was so sad they were leaving) and looked to say bye to Cathy but couldn’t find her. We had already said bye to Bonita and Cara the night before. As we were leaving I saw Jason looking around and I asked him who he was looking for. He said he was looking for Melanie as he wanted to say bye to her. I thought that was very sweet.

23|Sep|2008 1Playing poker together with old friends must be pretty sweet as in the above story. Whenever I have spare time, I like to stay with my friends, we are happy no matter what we would do for fun. If firends of the same interest like playing poker meet each other, it must be much more exciting.
