Last Wednesday night, the crowd at Sidepockets clearly showed that this region can, and is, coming back. We had thirty players in the first session with seven of those being new players. To those who play in other regions this might not sound like much, but it is to us.
What I found most enjoyable was playing against the new people particularly the deaf mutes.
Playing against someone who is deaf and mute exposed me to a side of life that I don’t see that often. It made me thankful for the things I have, but it also showed me that someone who society considers handicapped can still have a zest for life. And many of them can flat out play.
So if you are in the neighborhood, come to Sidepockets in Olathe and play poker in the best league in the nation.
