Early Position: Limp with AA/KK/suited connectors, Raise AK/QQ, Limp with 88/77/66/55/44/33/22, Flat call a bettor in position, limp/call with suited connectors (hope to be against AA/KK)
Middle Position: Limp with AA/KK (first to enter), Raise vs limpers, openers, Flat call opened pot with AK/QQ, Limp with 88-22, limp/call or limp/check raise with JJ/TT/99, Flat call with 88-22, limp/call with suited connectors
Late Position: Raise with AA/KK, reraise limpers who check raise, Raise with AK, Call with JJ/TT/99, raise if you suspect bettor to be weak, Call with 88-22, raise with suited connectors vs limpers
Followed up by a pot-sized bet 90% of the time heads up on the flop if you brought it in or reprised.
In reference to AQ/AJ/AT/KQ/KJ/KT/QJ/QT/JT (suited & unsuited):
“If they’re suited, I’ll call a raise with them and go ahead a take a turn(flop)”
“When they’re not suited, I won’t call a raise if I’m out of position”
(nothing against limping)
*probably isn’t the first limper with the trouble hands however*
*Doyle will limp (first or 2nd.. etc) with suited paint (suited connectors)*
“With the exception of an Ace or a King with any suited card… I consider any hand I haven’t already discussed to be a trash hand.” — “… are hands that I put in the same category as the small connecting cards and I play them approximately the same way.” -D. Brunson
Notice the only different from our strategies, is:
1) instead of betting AK or QQ i limp, unless there’s limpers before me
2) Unless I’m only playing 1-2 games at a time, I exclude most suited connectors besides KQs, KJs, KTs, QJs, QTs, JTs
3) I never check raise with JJ, TT, 99 unless it’s vs a short stack with no other players to worry about
4) I will be first to limp with the “trouble” hands (offsuit paint)
5) I will not call a raise with medium/small pairs unless on the button, or a small raise. Nor will I call a raise with suited paint unless there is atleast 1 other caller and I’m in position.
6) Unless it’s an aggressive game I also play the “trouble Hands” AJ, AT, KQ, KJ, KT, QJ, QT, JT for the price of the BB even out of position. Once i start getting raised frequently, i only limp with AJ/AT/KQ/JT or if it’s really aggressive, I probably fold them all out of position unless there’s limpers before me.
7) I only play Ax suited, not Kx suited (besides KQs/KJs/KTs of course)
If Doye’s strategy is so accepted, why is a more passive, slightly less tight (unsuited paint) so laughable?
